Important Camping Gear For Your Next Vacation
Before heading off on your next outdoor trip you will need to ensure you have all the important camping gear to make the event a happy one. Camping is usually a joyful experience and one that can be enjoyed by people of every age. The memories from camping trips and the family bonding experience are priceless. If you’ve never camped before, I’m sure you can find a family you know that would be glad to share their next camping trip with you. You can even rent your equipment and find what works best for you before you buy.
No matter if you are heading out into the wilderness or going to put a tent up at a licensed camp ground, choosing the right equipment should help to ensure you are capable of addressing any eventuality that may arise. At the top of your list should be a quality tent. Tents can be bought in almost any design, shape, or size. You should pick a model that can comfortably accommodate the people who will be coming with you on your trips.
There is the option of picking a one man, two man, three man, or even bigger tent. Consider how the weather will be most of the time when you are camping and choose a tent that is suitable. Also ask yourself whether the tent would provide enough space to store all your equipment if a storm comes.
Never rush into choosing a sleeping bag. It should provide ample room for a comfortable sleep as well as protecting against the cold. Make sure that if you are planning summer only expeditions you do not choose a sleeping bag that is designed for arctic conditions.
Though you may like the idea of cooking your food on an open fire it is generally much easier and a lot safer if you carry a stove on your camping trips. The actual size will depend on the number of people you will be catering to. If there are only you and your partner than a single burner portable propane stove should be more than sufficient. Do not make the mistake of forgetting to bring the right pots, pans, and cutlery. You can buy specialist cookery gear for camping trips which is easy to clean and carry.
A first aid kit should always be thought of as essential. Consider whether to buy a comprehensive first aid box from a camping store or compile your own kit. Never overlook the importance of carrying prescription medicines you may require. As a rule a first aid box should contain water purification tablets, antiseptic cream, plasters, bandages, bug spray, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and painkillers.
It is always frustrating to arrive at your campground only to realise you have forgotten to bring a flashlight. It is amazing how dark it can become on a night where there is no moon. Always take a flashlight or torch for each person in your camping party as well as enough spare batteries.
I’ve been tent camping for over 35 years and as a retired Airborne Ranger, have experience in wilderness survival. We carry a nice selection of camping gear from tents to flashlights at reasonable prices. Check us out!

This is a video that shows SOME of my outdoor / camping gear. It is not all inclusive as other items are kept in my Rush 72 backpack and NATO water bottle holder that contains my canteen and other survival items. This video shows what I would keep on my person in camp or for a short hike – I would also include my canteen with carrier on a short hike as well.

Buy Your Kids Ski Gear Before Going Skiing
When buying kids snow gear, it is vital that you buy insulated clothing. It also needs to be warm and waterproof. If your gear fails to be any of those things, you should go out and buy your kids new gear.
Be sure that your children have all of the different gear they need. Many parents don’t realize just how much stuff they need to buy their kids for skiing. This includes, at the basics, a hat, goggles, gloves, ski pants, jacket, thermals. That is the absolute bare minimum though.
Make sure it fits correctly. Ski gear which is too small can be constricting for kids. It is nearly impossible to ski properly if your arms are stuck in place. Also, if they are too big, they may allow cold water and snow to get in, giving you the potential of hypothermia as well as frostbite.
Don’t buy cheap. It is just not worth it! You want your kids snow gear to last a long time (well…until they grow out of them, that is). You do not want to buy gear which will rip and tear easily, or which will not stay as warm as it should be.
You can get really cool kids ski gear for great prices if you shop online or out of season. Don’t make your kids go around in gear which isn’t in style. That’s just mean! You can easily get cools kids ski gear on sale at a variety of places (remember, on clearance, or on sale does not equal cheap). Try eBay, or other online stores first. Or try the timing trick. You can buy the gear in the off season (or right at the end of a season) for dirt cheap prices.
